Our Trip to Tattershall Farm Park!

 CUDDLES TIME!
We got off to a great start when we were introduced to some wonderful animals!
All of the children were so gentle with the animals.
These beautiful bunnies were loved by everyone!

We couldn't believe the size of the next rabbit to visit us! George looked us up and down and hopped around the room. We were told European rabbits like him can run faster than 30 miles an hour and also jump incredibly high!
George felt very soft.

Next came the stunning tortoises! Everyone was fascinated by their texture. We were told that even though their shells felt hard, the tortoises could still feel us stroking them.

We watched the tortoises for a long time walking along the table so slowly.
Some of us even lifted up a tortoise to feel how heavy they were and to see what the underneath of their body looked like.
We even touched a beautiful snake. He felt very different to the rabbits.
It was lovely to see the children's fascination with and close observation of all these animals.

TIME TO EXPLORE OUTDOORS!

It was lovely to enjoy seeing so many different animals so close up. We remembered not to put our fingers near the animals' mouths, but loved stroking some of them.

SOFT PLAY FUN!
After lunch we headed for the huge play barn. The children loved this area and explored and played in every single part of it! It as so pleasing to see the children helping each other and playing so well together.

A WHOLE ROOM FULL OF SAND!
The children could hardly believe their eyes when they saw this area!

LOOK AT ME!
These faces summed up our great day - lots of smiles, laughter and fun.

I was very proud of all of our children, and a huge thank you to all our helpers.

Concentration and imagination!

WATCH OUT! CHILDREN CONCENTRATING!
Such a simple activity, but the children demonstrated great hand eye coordination - they also enjoyed a little competition to see who could fill the most lids with water before the sand ran through the timer!

This week the children have also been busy making Father's Day medals.

Some of our Nursery 1 children did brilliantly when they traced over the letters for their special message. They concentrated so well and were rightly proud of their efforts!

We helped make puffy paint. The children exercised their hand and finger muscles a great deal as the bottles needing squeezing very tight indeed!

The children were very surprised to hear they needed to bake their paint in the microwave! They returned excitedly with Mrs J to show what had happened - the paint was hard!

We proudly showed off our medals before we took them home for daddy! Aren't they great!

CELEBRATING THE QUEEN'S 90TH BIRTHDAY!
We dressed in red, white and blue for the day!

We watched some video clips of Trooping the Colour, and the fly past. The children were very excited and asked lots of questions!
Later in the day some children asked for the videos again. I assumed they would sit and watch as they had done earlier, but I was delighted to see them start marching and copying the parade! They found their own props from around the room to use as hats, rifles and muscial instruments. They stood impressively still when the National Anthem played!

Even at such a young age, the children had an understanding of the Queen being very special and important. They were concerned though that no one seemed to have given her any presents!
Happy 90th Birthday, Your Majesty.

Exercising!

EXERCISING IN DIFFERENT WAYS
This week our focus has been on keeping our bodies healthy.

We used dough disco time as an opportunity to exercise not only our fingers but also our arms!

The children have been very enthusiastic!

We have had work out times! We had challenges such as stretching for 1 minute, and jogging on the spot for 3 minutes. We found that 3 minutes was much longer than we thought!!
The children said they felt tired, hot and out of breath! This gave great opportunities to talk about what activity does to our bodies. The children were very interested when I explained their hearts were beating faster. We looked in picture books to see what else was inside our bodies - lungs, bones, muscles. The conversation became quite complicated at times!

Outdoors we have used a range of equipment, and the weather has been beautiful. We have often come back inside ready for a good rest!

We finished the week with some fun races! Everyone enjoyed these and it was wonderful to hear the children cheering each other on!
